Pure Clay Detox Mask by L'Oreal
Wednesday, 28 June 2017
I'm not the type of girl who has a regimented skincare routine. I haven't tried any sort of mask before...really all I do is use moisturiser consistently. But recently I have been so inspired by so many beautiful girls that I just really wanted to give skincare a go.
I thought L'Oreal was a safe option because I had already heard and read a truckload of reviews about how great their clay masks were. I soon found out that L'Oreal did 3 types of clay masks - Detox, Glow and Purity. I found the Detox and Glow mask appealing so I decided to order these ones.
What is a Pure Clay Detox?
Below is a description provided by L'Oreal.
"For the first time, the L'Oréal Paris laboratories have selected three pure clays and combined them with charcoal, which acts like a magnet to draw out impurities. The creamy texture detoxifies the skin's surface by cleansing deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautified without drying it out."
Thoughts
Scent
The first thing I noticed about the mask was the scent. Even before opening the packaging, I could smell a strong scent from the mask. There was nothing negative about the smell but if you are someone who dislikes strong scents then this may off-putting.
Application, Recommended Wear-Time + Results
I applied the mask with my fingers which was fast. You may want to apply with your brush if you don't like getting your hands messy. I removed the mask with warm water as instructed and dried my face with a facial towel as instructed.
L'Oreal recommend to keep the mask on for 5 - 10 minutes. I chose to ignore this and left the mask on for about an hour. My skin lacks a natural glow - hence the longer wear-time. You can also adapt the duration of the mask to your skin type.
Upon removing the mask, I didn't notice anything dramatically different about the skin. However it was until a few hours later when my skin started to look brighter with a subtle glow. Keeping in mind this was after only one use. I went on to use the mask 2 more times later on the week and my complexion appeared to be more even and brighter.
Pricing
All 3 of the clay masks are priced at £7.99 (9.10€/$10.18) but right now they are all on offer for £6 at Superdrug. For this price you get 50ml of product, which according to L'Oreal allows for 10 applications. Personally I feel like I will get a lot more applications because I do not have many problem areas on my face.(And because my face is small)
Final thoughts
I would recommend this mask to a beginner in skincare like myself. This is due to many factors - one of the most important being it is priced affordably which is great for people who do not want to spend excessive amounts on skincare. The instructions are also clearly stated on the box, easy to follow as nothing extensive needs to be done.
